This is something I've noticed regarding the Rugrats fandom on TV.com. Yeah, that site again. :|

According to the fan(tard)s, SpongeBob was created to cancell Rugrats, but the latter tried to take the former down with All Grown Up (which IMO, failed). Erm... just a question fans, but do you really have any evidence on your behalf? You need to back up your claims with evidence, you know. :lol:

The truth is that SpongeBob was becoming Nick's new cash cow franchise, and Rugrats was getting too old to compete. They tried making spin-offs and adding new characters to bring the ratings back up, but they all failed. It ended because it got stale. Cycle of TV shows, people. (Plus, I think it jumped the shark after its first movie, but that's another (long) discussion. And I've heard that Klasky-Csupo, the producers of the show, went into financial difficulties in 2004 and had to stop producing all of its ongoing shows at the time, including Rugrats. Clarification on this would be nice).

Bottom line: Rugrats fantards can't accept the fact that their favourite show is gone, and because of this, they blame SpongeBob for this.

Also, I am certainly NOT generalising the fandom here, like I've been accused of many times before in the past with other fandoms (because I don't state I'm not). :| It's just some of the more, how do I put it... less sensible fans. -_-

I like both shows but this is stupid. Rugrats took a huge hit when Dil was added to the cast and it never was the same. SpongeBob got shitty after the movie when the writers where changed.

I disagree wholeheartedly that it was made to cancel Rugrats, it was in development prior to Rugrats. I know, because I have a book on it, and SpongeBob was originally going to be called "SpongeBoy", but the name was taken, so replaced it with "Bob".

Honestly though, even though you don't like the later Rugrats episodes, I am glad that you're not opinionated on it and treat it like it's the absolute root of all evil like most people do. K-C did get bankrupt, but they're back now, and trying to re-establish themselves(and have said they would return to Rugrats, only if Nick would allow them).

Hillenburg was about to end the show, but the Nick execs asked him for more, and then Paul Tibbitt took over and ruined it.

To be honest, I didn't mind the later Rugrats episodes, sure there were a few changes, but not many, some elements were better, like the development of the characters, I prefer the first couple of seasons, but the later ones were okay for what they were. I will admit, that it's not as good as the first few though. (I've heard even Klasky Csupo got sick and tired of AGU, and AGU was only made upon Nick execs' request, and K-C consider it non canon themselves)

They are a helluva lot better than post movie SpongeBob anyday. But the old Spongebob is set to return for the second movie I think.

Invader Zim was cancelled for scaring kids.
The rest was cancelled because Nick wanted to go to the Teenage mood.

rugrats all grown up did NOT fail! it has five seasons out, so there for, it did not fail... i don't know why it stopped, probably just because... same thing with rugrats )origanls) which has like 7 seasons...
