Flawed Heroes by crazylaura64 Flawed Heroes by crazylaura64
It's a fact of life - even the greatest of heroes, past and present, fictional or not; have flaws, just like everyone else.

Idealization has always bugged me, to be honest. We make certain people out to be these pure awesome beings, yet they're most likely not so different from us ordinary folk. :P

I remember Tom Hiddleston (Loki's actor) said something about Marvel's Avengers characters are good because they're flawed, and that the villains are portrayed to be heroic. That's some deep stuff.

Of course! If they didn't have flaws, they wouldn't be heroes.

Celebrities and heroes are just people that happen to be well-known.

Even since the dawn of time in the first ever told stories the hero-even the immortal ones-all had a fatal flaw that could do them in.

I completely agree. And it's also bad when people act like certain celebrities are saints that can do no wrong -coughBenedictCumberbatchcough-

its annoying when people make characters that are immortal/invincible....and they role-play with said character.

Hmm. I know most people hate Mary/Marty Sues, but what do they think about characters with too much flaws? Does it make things more realistic, or make the character seem useless? I'm planning on making a story with a character who starts out weak, and hated but then most starts to like him. But he believes he's still too weak and keeps on trying to be perfect until falling back to what he was in the first place. Does anyone think that's good?

Some authors just pile all sorts of flaws onto thier characters until they become completely unlikable to the reader - they're called anti-Sues. Ordinary Mary Sues are bad enough, but anti-Sues are just as painful, if not worse. I mean, who wants to root for an unlikable, boring hero?
